Year 1 & 2
We are proud to offer a nurturing, carefully planned learning environment for our Year 1 and Year 2 children, where every child’s development, wellbeing and progress are our highest priority.
In the mornings, the children are taught in their year groups to ensure learning is well matched to their age and stage of development.
- Mrs Meggison teaches Year 1
- Miss Harrison teaches Year 2
In the afternoons, the children come together and are taught by Mrs Meggison, allowing for a smooth, supportive transition between year groups and a strong sense of community.
The children in both classes are eager, enthusiastic learners and a joy to teach. We place great importance on building positive relationships, high expectations and a love of learning, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their very best.
Across both classes, we are fortunate to have Mrs Ulliott, Mrs Allen, Mrs Hancox and Mrs Treadaway working closely with us. They provide additional help and targeted support, enabling all pupils to make progress and reach their full potential.
We work very closely as a Year 1 and Year 2 team, ensuring continuity, consistency and a shared approach to learning and development.
Our curriculum is book-based, with carefully chosen, engaging texts that inspire curiosity and deepen learning. Details of the books we will study can be found in the Meet the Teacher document. We kindly ask families not to read these texts in advance, as we enjoy sharing the excitement and surprise of discovering each book together with the children.
You will find a number of helpful documents attached to this page. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or if there is additional information you feel would be useful — we value strong partnerships with families and are always happy to help.
